MeMO Pad

MeMO Pad

ASUS debuted its affordable MeMO Pad slate last month and now is showing it off in a promo video on YouTube.

The video concentrates on the affordable tablet’s key selling features like the 5GB free lifetime cloud storage by ASUS, SuperNote Lite note-taking app, the photo-editing ASUS Studio among others.

Here’s the video itself. It runs for little over 2 minutes.

Grand pays us a visit, is in perfect shape for a preview
Samsung’s mobile division is all about filling the market voids and creating unique niches (like the Galaxy Note). The latest device to come out of the Koreans is a 5-inch, extra cheap dual-SIM droid with a dual-core CPU.

Meet the Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082. Making the comparison between it and the surprisingly popular as of late Micromax A110 is inevitable, but let’s focus first on what the Galaxy Grand has to offer.

Built around the unimpressive at first sight 5″ TFT LCD display with a WVGA resolution, the Grand sports a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (easily expanded thanks to the microSD card slot).

Keeping the price as low as possible was the main objective here, but despite this, Samsung has included a 8MP snapper with LED flash at the back and 2MP camera at the front. Measuring 143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 mm the Grand’s weight feels reasonable at 162 grams.

Popping the back cover open unveils a 2100mAh battery, which is dwarfed by the Galaxy Note II’s 3100mAh unit, but should still perform decently come battery test time considering the less power-consuming resolution and chipset.

Oppo Find 5,

Oppo Find 5 arrives at the office, we gawk at its 1080p screen

It’s pretty clear that 2013 is the year of the 5” 1080p phones and the Oppo Find 5, which just arrived at our office, is part of the zodiac. 2012 was the year of quad-core processors, especially the Snapdragon S4 Pro chips towards its end, and the Find 5 has that too.

It’s not a matter of choice – with nearly 2 million pixels on the screen, the chipset will have to offer a lot in terms of both CPU and GPU power to make for a smooth experience. The Project Butter-enabled Android 4.1 Jelly Bean also helps

the iPhone 5 jailbreak is an unfulfilled dream of many, but it’s still as elusive as ever (the iPad mini one, just as well). Or are they? An independent dev group, which calls itself the Evad3rs, claims to have a jailbreak solution almost ready for the masses – called Evasi0n – and it should launch this very Sunday.

Not only that, but the jailbreak should work on all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches running anything from iOS 6.0 to the latest iOS 6.1, as famous iOS community hacker MuscleNerd has confirmed personally on Twitter

Samsung Ativ Odyssey

Samsung Ativ Odyssey

For some reason, Samsung decided not to bring its Ativ S Windows Phone 8 flagship to the United States. Instead, the Korean giant released the Verizon Exclusive, LTE toting, and seriously pocketable Samsung Ativ Odyssey.

The Samsung Ativ Odyssey looks and feels a lot like a mini version of the Ativ S. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU

BlackBerry Z10

The BlackBerry Z10 represents a major step forward for the company (formerly RIM, now just BlackBerry). We put it in front of our camera almost as soon as we pried it out of its box. We couldn’t help it but share with you the first glimpse of how well a touch-only BlackBerry of the new generation will handle, considering the unflattering response that the Storm and the Torch got.

One thing is immediately clear – the BlackBerry Z10 is far removed from the Storm, both in terms of hardware and in software.

The Sony Xperia E dual is the next guest in the office ready to be taken through our usual review routine. But before the review is complete, as the tradition goes, we shot a short video to get you ready for what’s coming.
The Xperia E dual is the dual-SIM sibling of the Xperia E midranger. It is powered by a single-core 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor, the Adreno 200 for graphics and 512MB of RAM.

The Nokia Lumia 620 came to our office a while back in a more flamboyant lime color wrapped in a glossy finish. This time round it sports a matte surface and black color of choice.
The back panel wraps around the screen and internals of the phone creating the falce sense of a uni body construction.

Samsung Galaxy Ace gets a Hugo Boss edition, at least in France

Samsung Galaxy Ace gets a Hugo Boss edition, at least in France

By Vlad Bobleanta on 18 Nov 11

In case you took a long look at Samsung’s midrange Galaxy Ace and decided that the only thing missing was a fashion brand tacked onto it… you’re in luck. Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Ace | Hugo Boss. As you may have gathered already, this is a ‘special edition’ Galaxy Ace. So what’s so special, or different here?

First of all there’s a big Hugo Boss logo above the display. Then there’s the back cover, which was redone by Hugo Boss designers. And there’s the shortcut to the Hugo Boss website added to the homescreen, so you’re never more than one tap away from the latest fashion news. You also get exclusive wallpapers and songs.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace | Hugo Boss launches running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, which is a nice step up from the vanilla Ace which was released running Android 2.2 Froyo. But there are no hardware differences between the two phones. The Hugo Boss edition still has the same 800 MHz processor, 5 MP camera, 3.5-inch touchscreen, same everything. It’s just made for those of you who simply can’t live without that Hugo Boss logo above your phone’s screen.

The phone is already available in France at The Phone House, where you can get it without a contract for €279.99, or with different monthly plans for an upfront cost of €1. It will also be available in Hugo Boss stores, of course. It’s unclear if this special edition smartphone will make it to any other country, but we’ll keep you posted, since we know you want to know.

Latest Samsung mobile set to Launch

Latest Samsung mobile set to Launch

The next generation flagship smart phone introduced by Samsung is expected to appear in the market either in January 2013 or later in April 2013. The S IV, which is yet to be launched, is among the latest Samsung mobile phones. It’s is considered the first in the Galaxy series of smartphones to support S-Pen.

If you are caught into the dilemma to choose which device this year then below I have mentioned a few buying tips, which will help you in the way. Consider its technical specifications first.

Samsung makes use of Google’s Android OS and is different from Apple’s patent iOS. Android is considerably customizable in accordance with widgets, which adopt as much of the screen-space as you like sharing with standard icons. This feature is lacked in iOS.

Similarly, however, if you like to get neat as well as friendly icon grids on each screen then iOS based phone like iPhone can do it. Samsung is responsive of the fact that for first time user Android seems unfriendly, so there is a simple screen-mode which offers users with standard choices, & the default is to a combination of widgets and icons for, say, weather and news. There is an added feature like ‘Direct Call’ means you can call somebody automatically by lifting the gadget to your ear if you are going at their contact-details.

When we talk about Samsung’s S3 then it looks like a premium product and comes into black as well as white view. The 4.8” display defines S3, making it appears large as well as luxurious. It’s worth noticing that Samsung’s S III can be ungraded with external memory cards & for wireless charging.

The processor integrated in it is quad core and in terms of battery life it gives longer functionality. The phone also has the feature of ‘Smart Stay, which eyes to keep the screen turn on when you look into the front facing camera, which it detects automatically. HD recording ability of the smart phone helps you record videos in high definition mode.

As soon as the Apps are concerned then the phone is ultimate in featuring excellent apps designed to enhance the user experience. You can within a single touch open up the excellent world of apps and can also put your status over networking sites easily.

All Samsung’s latest mobile phones feature cutting-edge technology, which is intended to help you do what you want.

For shopping purposes it’s important to dig out the reliable online stores that not only have latest mobiles in their catalogue but also offer best deals.

Smartphones stolen in Britain are being sold for up to £1,000

Smartphones stolen in Britain are being sold for up to £1,000

www.telegraph.co.uk

Smartphones stolen in Britain are being sold for up to £1,000 abroad as the black market price for handsets that contain personal and financial data soars.

Stolen smartphones selling for up to £1,000 - iPhone, BlackBerry, HTC
Police and industry sources have admitted that the international element of the crime, and sophistication of the criminal groups involved, has made it incredibly difficult to counter, according to The Times.

Official figures recently suggested that mobile phone theft has increased 25 per cent in the last three years.

Thieves are now employing audacious tactics to steal smartphones, such as “steaming”, where gang members flood mobile phone stores and distract staff with inquiries, allowing their accomplices to clear the stockroom of new handsets.

Gangs also target music festivals, where police have caught members wearing tracksuit bottoms tied at the ankle and filled with stolen handsets.

The gangs pass the phones to handlers who export them in bulk. One increasingly popular trade route, police said, has phones travelling through Eastern Europe for renovation, then to the Indian subcontinent, Algeria and Nigeria, where the newest smartphones are in shortest supply but the newly wealthy most want the gadgets.

Mobile phones have also been used by drugs gangs to launder money. “The common factor now is the organisation,” one police source told The Times.

“These groups are stealing to order. Some of the more organised criminal groups already have their fingers in every pie.”

Pickpocketing is the most common form of mobile phone theft. One in six of those who have had a phone stolen say it was taken from their bag or pocket.

Eight per cent have even had their phone snatched from their hand as they were using it and a further 6 per cent were mugged for it, according to the official figures.

iPad Maxi

Apple Announces iPad Maxi

The rumors were true. Apple will soon add another iPad model to its tablet portfolio, this one at the high end of the line. The company saidthis morning that come Feb. 5 it will begin offering a 128 gigabyte version of the fourth-generation Retina display iPad it announced last fall.

The new device boasts double the storage capacity of the top-of-the-line iPad that preceded it, and a price to match. The 128GB Wi-Fi-only iPad will set you back $799, while a cellular version creeps up on four figures at $929.

That’s a heady price, but one that’s likely not at all off-putting to the markets for which Apple’s latest iPad is intended: Enterprise, medicine and photography. Apple specifically called out those segments in its press release this morning, noting as well that the iPad is being used in “virtually all” Fortune 500 companies, and in more than 85 percent of Global 500 companies. Is it coincidence that the 128GB iPad arrives at market about the same time that Microsoft begins shipping its Surface Pro, which starts out at $899 for 64 GB model? Doubtful.
Today’s 128GB iPad announcement represents another marked shift from Apple’s typical iPad release cycle. Rather than rolling out one big update to the device annually, the company is now making incremental updates to it as it sees fit — just as it would to its Mac line. On that note, the largest iPad now has the same storage as the base model 13-inch MacBook Air …

Apple iPhone 5

Apple iPhone 5

It’s almost funny that Apple continues to run ad campaigns, seeing as how every product launch of the last six years has been watched more closely than a space shuttle flying over California.

Yet here we are, on iPhone 5 launch weekend, with a new set of TV spots for everyone’s favorite fetish item.
Apple iPhone 5 Features: 5 Reasons The New Screen Could Be Big News [RUMORS]
This time around, Apple’s advertising firm has done well. The 30-second shorts focus on specific aspects of why the new device — which doesn’t look terribly different from the two generations of iPhone before it — is indeed better than what you’ve seen come out of Apple before.

“Physics” is a play on the new construction of the iPhone 5, highlighting the reduction in weight and thickness from its predecessors. Those attributes are practically at the top of every reviewer’s list of noteworthy new features, and the ad cleverly conveys as much. “Thumb,” too, highlights the increased screen size, using an appendage as an appropriate yardstick to gauge its utility. “Cheese” and “Ears” go on to highlight other subtle features, like the new panoramic camera shots and Apple’s redesigned headphones.
It’s a good thing Apple nailed these; you’ll remember that the company’s “Genius” campaign — which featured a smug Apple store employee attempting to help clueless members of the public use their Apple devices — was not well-received by many. The ads only ran as a “first run” throughout the beginning of the Olympics, according to Apple’s ad agency TBWA, but many believed that could have been due to the ads’ poor reception.

Thankfully, this new lot is better than the last. Note to Apple: Keep showing off the product, rather than how dumb some of your Genius Bar customers can be.

Cycle through the full suite of new TV spots below and judge them for yourself:

The Lumia 920, 2013 model

Nokia Lumia 920 on sale in November

Nokia will start selling its new smartphone, potentially its last chance to break into the most profitable part of mobile phone market and secure its future, in November, sources at European telecoms operators said on Friday.

The Lumia 920, which uses Microsoft's Windows software, is Nokia's attempt to catch up with Apple's iPhone and a string of popular phones using Google's Android software, like Samsung's Galaxy models.

The new phone, which with its rounded edges and colourful covers look similar to its predecessors, was unveiled on Wednesday and drew a thumbs down from many analysts, who felt it lacked the "wow" factor to make big inroads against rivals.

They were also unsettled by Nokia's refusal to say when the phone, and the smaller Lumia 820 models, would go on sale, or to give details on the price and operator partners.

Once the world's biggest mobile phone maker, Nokia fell behind rivals in the fast-growing smartphone market and has struggled to catch up, racking up more than 3 billion euros in operating losses in the last 18 months and forcing it to cut 10,000 jobs, as well as pursue asset sales.

By going on sale in November, the Lumia 920 will hit stores in time for the key holiday sales season.
